Since 2010, The Good Shepherd Centre has been a solitary beacon of hope for the poor in slum areas around the fishing port in Phuket Town.
Living in inhumane, unsanitary conditions in squalid encampments, many fall prey to unscrupulous employers in the construction industry or Human Trafficking.

“Every child has the right to an education”

At birth, most migrant children are refused official recognition from the Thai authorities. The children are at constant risk from labour and sexual exploitation. Unable to access any form of education or healthcare, they are unable to break this cycle of extreme poverty

GS Learning Centre provides full time education; 265 students registered Students aged 5 – 17 10 qualified Teachers Educated over 800 students 70 students already integrated into the Thai School system.

Success Stories
One student is now a teacher at the school, another is training to become a doctor, others are now employed as administrators in sectors such as the construction industry.

Health card Program

Many migrants do not have any access to medical help. GS conducts weekly visits to 20 slum areas by a qualified nurse providing urgent medical care & medicine, especially to children with serious illness and pregnant women.

Empowerment Program

Underprivileged women are trained in various skills from natural soap making, hair dressing, sewing to cooking classes. Using these skills, they are able to break the cycle of poverty.

The Good Shepherd Learning Centre provides basic education for the disadvantaged migrant children. The children learn Thai, Burmese and English. We work closely with the Ministry of Education. Since 2016, we adopted the Burmese curriculum, Mathematics, History, Science, etc.,

Join Us

We welcome volunteers to join us in this project. We need English teachers, help for organizing different activities, events, etc.

Teachers' day celebration

Traditional clothes and flower ceremony. On this day, the children show respect to their teachers and thank them for their care and support.

Children's birthday

We celebrate the students' birthdays twice a year, one for the children whose birthday is in the first half and another for those in the second half of the year. The children receive little presents and cupcakes on this day.
